A little DYI for CHEAP-O-LA - Design Thoughts STUDIO

On a typical “blog” day, I come to my computer overflowing with inspiration that I want to share…maybe its something I spotted over the weekend, or a great website that some one else told me about..but there are a few days, where I just have nothing. Today was one of those days. I don’t stress out about this, at all, because this blog is really for fun…so if I have nothing, I post nothing, no biggie. I have been finding however, that on these days, that I have decided just to “skip” it…something always seems to pop up, and I end up posting anyway!! SO look at what popped up this morning!

So, I have this wall in my home ( by home, I mean, not the home we own in MI, but the duplex that we RENT in NY..its a long story, but for the sake of this blog, most things will always have to do with this rental…sigh…) It has always bothered me, we have done a few things, mirrors, clock, small plant table, I have always hated it, so its been in the back of my mind to find a high table ( for keys and mail) and a few small pieces of artwork for a collage. WELL, this morning as I was doing errands at Target, I came across the ever so popular CLEARANCE aisle!! yippeee and LOOK what I found!!

If you can’t read the tiny clearance sticker, it says $1.98…that’s right…under $2.00 for 3 mini journals..read on to see how the heck these journals play into my ugly wall…

Next I found this cute Green frame on Clearance for $4.99…I couldn’t figure out why it was on clearance, but then saw that it was missing one screw on the back, that holds the back on…big WHOOP!!!

SO…I took these two lovely finds…cut the box that the mini journals came in and…..Voila!!! for around $7 A super cute print to hang in my collage!! and now I have 3 super cute gratitude journals too!! AND THERE IS MORE!!!!

I kept digging…of course, now my clearance juices were flowing!! and found THESE..more super cute prints on 3 more little journals ( I am going to have a lot of journals)

I got this 3 pack of journals plus 3 small black frames for a combined total of..$5.99!!! Do you see where I am going with this?? that’s right, 3 super cute framed prints for my collage!!! COULD YOU SCREAM!! I could, I was so excited. I also picked up this cute framed, bright colored, Key print, not on clearance, but only $7.99.

SO, below is the start of what this beauty is going to look like, I , obviously have plans on adding more, but wanted to share the beginning with you, stay tuned for the final “hang” and see what else I add!!

See where the ugly clock is? That is where I will be starting the collage. I will be moving the plant stand and hopefully, replace it with the perfect tall table, which I have not found yet, although, I am holding out hope that with in the next few weeks I will find something…you all know that this is the best time for Goodwill, Consignment shopping, and garbage picking ( yep…I said it people, and I will say it again..CURBSIDE GARBAGE PICKING) why?? because everyone is beginning to spring clean!! so keep you eyes peeled.

Isn’t it amazing how an un-inspired day can turn out to be so great?! and guess what else….I got my funky flower ring that I ordered from the Etsy store, Forevermorecreations, and it is just as AWESOME as I had hoped for!!
