Hi All!!
Last week I shared that some of you have been asking to see more projects that I am working on. I always love seeing what other designers are working on, but just forget to think of sharing my own!
In the last year, my original Nashville client, and I, have been working together to solve a major problem with their beautiful, old home. Its a major problem that a lot of homes in this area have. Beautiful detail and great “Bones” but ZERO closet space. Interesting enough, this home, had some big renovations done to it, prior to my client purchasing it. Some of the renovations included adding a walk in closet in the Master bath. Unfortunately, the walk in closet wasn’t built to typical size standards, and it just does NOT work.
We have tried a few options, including moveable furniture pieces to house folded clothing, and a few hanging. After living with the moveable pieces, it is apparent that it just doesn’t cut it. So, we are now at a crossroads. Do we do custom built-ins, getting exactly what is needed for hanging/folding and storage space, but also a non moveable floor plan? OR do we totally renovate the Master Bathroom/Closet space, and take on a project that is sure to last a few months? the answer? We dont know yet. I know totally anti climactic right? Here are a few built ins that I used for inspiration when thinking of the built-in option.
As I type this, I am also in the process of re-drawing the skeleton of the existing Master Bath and closet, as well as bumping into an existing craft/sewing room space to gain sq. footage. I dont know the outcome yet. We need to be sure, that taking on a full renovation, is going to be worth more than just a couple of extra feet.
Stay tuned as we make our way through (2) amazing options, both with pros and cons, both with an anticipated beautiful outcome! Many Project Update posts in the future!!
Making intentional design decisions, isn’t always easy, but Its all part of the process of fully connecting to the space we live in.
XO.
Kim
