Happy Monday! A few Weeks ago, My B.F.F Kisha, became an aunt ( again). After visiting sweet baby boy Dane, she called and raved over his perfect little nursery! I knew I had to interview her sister-in-law Angela, and get all the details to share with you!! The best part, Angela totally gets the idea behind having a space mean something! Here is her story, and how she decided to quit her job in the Fashion world, to be in the mommy world full time, and how she designed a Motorcycle/Guitar inspired, baby boys room ( that use to be an office)!! Angela now has 2 children, her daughter, James (3.5yrs) and her new son, Dane ( 6 weeks)

I had the opportunity to stay home with my daughter, James, until she
was 5 months old. Then, a job opportunity in the fashion world, that I
left prior to having James, landed right in my lap. My husband and I
just felt like something, or someone was telling me to take this
job…so I did. I liked my job, but I always, always wanted to be at
home with James instead. So, after 2 1/2 years and A LOT of
discussions and budgeting (I even started using coupons, gasp!) with
the hubs, I quit the fashion world for the mommy world…and I’ve
never once looked back! Oh, and I was pregnant with our son Dane when
I quit too…we like high stress situations apparently! While being a
stay at home mom has its challenges (I have an almost 3 1/2 year old,
need I say more?), I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
What inspired the color Scheme for your Nursery?
I knew that I wanted my son’s room to be bright and fun! I was really
loving all the navy blue walls and rooms on Pinterest, but I knew his
room was too small to do the entire thing navy blue. So, we went with
one navy blue focal wall, with the rest of the walls being Pure White.
We used Satin Finish for both colors.
The white is Martha Stewart paint (it was on clearance for $10.00 a
gallon!) color-matched to Behr’s “white”
The navy is Behr paint color-matched to Benjamin Moore “hale navy”
How did you decide on Motorcycles and Guitars?
Well, my hubs is a motorcycle man (but not in a leather wearing, long
hair way – in a hot and sexy way!) so you could say I have a thing for
them! I knew that he wouldn’t go for a cutesy boy room so when I saw
the black motorcycle art at Hobby Lobby, I was sold! I also knew that
I didn’t want it to be too theme-y so I mixed in guitars as well.
Again, the hubs (and my dad) both like and play guitar so you could
say I have a thing for them as well!
Where did you find the artwork?
All the artwork is from Etsy (LOVE Etsy and am slightly obsessed with
it!). I saw some of it on Pinterest and some of it was just due to me
stalking and searching Etsy until the wee hours of the morning!
Guitars above crib: N. Eve Designs – I loved this shop, and the artists
vision but there weren’t any guitar listings – so I sent her a
conversation asking for acoustic guitars. I love the simplicity of
them and how they turned out – her shop is amazing!

Crying is for babies: Yourveryownartist – this shop has a listing for
custom artwork – I saw the saying on Pinterest but the original shop
wasn’t able to alter the colors or font so I had this one created!

How do you spend most of your time in this space?
For now it is mostly getting Dane dressed since he is still sleeping
in our room. To be honest, the poor kid didn’t even see his room
until he was about 3 weeks old because his mama had a rough recovery
from his c-section
What was the easiest
part about designing this
Space?
I think the easiest part was that I was designing a space for a boy!
I think boys’ rooms are so much easier than girls’ rooms. I struggled
with my daughter because everything was so girly and pink and pastel.
My style is modern and simple, which can have a masculine feel, so
designing a space for a boy was so fun and easy for me!
What was the hardest?
The hardest was that the room is small and I wanted to do bold color
on the wall….and that weird little nook where we put that grey
bookshelf. It took me a long time to figure out what I could put
there that wouldn’t look lost or overpowering – nothing a little trip
to Ikea couldn’t solve!
How was designing this nursery, different from Designing your daughter
James’ nursery?
SO much easier! As I mentioned above, I am drawn to simple and clean design which has a
tendency to feel masculine…throw in some bold and bright colors and
you have the perfect boys room! Girls stuff is hard…it’s light and
pastel…just not my style. I say this, but what colors are my
daughter’s room – grey and pink 🙂
What is your favorite thing about this space?
My favorite thing is that Dane’s space represents his Daddy! It’s all
things that my husband loves, and I’m hoping the things that he and Dane will bond
over, through the years.
How is life with 2? is it what you expected?
It is crazy, busy, exhausting, amazing, and just plain funny
sometimes! It is what I expected for the most part, but you can never
really imagine what it is like until you are in it.
