“In the flower district where the potted plants are put out to sunbathe, the streets are transformed into a landscape somewhere between that of an exotic marketplace and a surreal painting”.
I worked In New York City for 3 years. I used to take the train from our little town of Sloatsburg, switch trains at Seacaucus Junction, and hop the train to NYC/Penn Station. Once to Penn, I would walk 15 blocks to my job in Gramercy park. I hated the train commute after the second year, but I always loved the walk. The very best part of this walk, was when Spring hit NYC. I would purposely switch my route, to walk down 7th ave until I got to 28th street..The Flower District. Every Single morning, I was met with an amazing aroma, and an entire street LINED with buckets, barrels and shelves full of fresh greenery, the smell of tulips, roses, and other sweet blooms. It was, by far, THE best way to start everyday, and It is a memory that I will take with me always. I often use the visions and smells I remember, to lead myself into meditation. Today reminds me of one of those first days of Spring in NYC, the birds are singing, the air is crisp and the sun is shining. Enjoy these photos from my favorite street in NYC.
Enjoy your Sunday !!!
